Fifty-five years on, the original It bag is as

Did you know...
1Coco Chanel's groundbreaking design made its debut in February 1955 - hence the name '2.55'.
2It was the first handbag with a shoulder strap Chanel's solution to the dilemma of juggling a clutch with a drink flute. The famous chain was inspired by the thin straps on soldier's bags.
3In the 80's, Karl Lagerfeld added the linked 'CC' logo, and interwove leather with the chain.
4The front flap covers a secret pocket. Coco allegedly used hers to stash illicit love letters from Nazi spy Hans Gunther Von Dincklage.
5Now the brand's best-selling style, more then 30 new versions of the 2.55 are produced each year. For spring, this tweed and silk beauty is giving me something to howl about.
XOXO
