Internet Marketing

Are You Making This Mistake?

When I first started my internet business almost ten years ago, one of the main
resources I turned to for help was Internet Marketing Center.

Internet Marketing Center is currently run by Derek Gehl who took over the
company after his friend Corey Rudl passed away about five years ago.
The company continues to stay strong to this day.

In the video below, Derek Gehl talks about the #1 mistake that people
make when starting their own internet business...

Derek offers some great tips, but I'd like to add something else...

I said it before and I'll say it again: When you're starting an internet business,
make sure the niche you target is something that you're passionate about.
If you don't believe in the product or service that you're selling,
it just won't work.

If you're just starting out with an internet business, you may want to check
out Internet Marketing Center's The Step-by-Step Guide to Selling Online.

Also, you can sign up to be an affiliate of IMC and earn commissions
from promoting their products.

Website Hosting and Internet Services

on a Budget: Resource and Tips

Many people think that starting and maintaining an online business is costly,
but I'm here to tell you that it is possible to have a successful business even
if you're on a tight budget! In fact, I pretty much started my business with only
$8.95 - the amount I paid to start my web hosting. Of course, I invested a
great deal of time marketing my website myself...and then there was the
monthly cost of internet. Back then AOL was the big internet provider so
I paid around $23 for it. So, all in all my overhead was about $32 a month.

However, things are much cheaper nowadays. You can now get wireless
internet with your cable and phone at decent monthly rates. I just found out
about a company named Charter Communications that offers bundled packages.
They're having an auction beginning March 12, 2008 where you can bid to
win internet for life! The bidding will start at $10 and if you pre-register now,
you'll be entered to win a Nintendo Wii (No bid or purchase necessary).

Although you may be on a budget, I don't really recommend shopping for low-cost
website hosting or internet service providers based on price. Before you purchase
any service, make sure to call the company's customer service and email them to
see how their reps communicate with you. Also, do an internet or blog search for
the company to see what others are saying about their services. Sometimes the
reason a company is so cheap is because they don't offer any type of support
or customer service!

How to Take Payments Online

For Your Internet Business

This post is dedicated to those of you who are new to the world of online
business and are just getting started with setting up your own internet
business. I often forget that there are still many people out there looking
for help with their new business and so I hope that this blog will not
only be a source of inspiration, but also a useful guide and resource
in helping you build a successful internet business.

That said, I'd like to show you how to start taking payments online for
your internet business. I know that when I first started setting up my
own internet business, I was a little overwhelmed with the process
of taking payments online. What do I need? How much is it going to
cost? How long is it going to take? Will it be safe? Do I need one of
those credit card processing machines?
