Elie Saab
Jean Paul Gaultier
Chanel
In the couture tradition, the last exit of the show is always la mariée, or the bride. This season, the brides ranged from the traditional to the outright daring. Elie Saab showed a gown complete with organza flowers and a dramatic veil. Jean Paul Gaultier went nontraditional (what else would you expect at a show whose stated theme was "punk cancan"?) selecting spring campaign star Andrej Pejic — who may well be the first male couture bride Eek! And Karl Lagerfeld handpicked Kristen McMenamy for the honor at Chanel; at the end of the show, the two posed cake-topper style amid the rest of the show's models. Cue the Mendelssohn.
