In lieu of his usual short film to showcase Chanel's Pre-Fall collection, Karl Lagerfeld is reverting back to the catwalk, presenting the Chanel Metier D'Arts show in Paris today. The Byzantine-inspired collection — which is an homage to Coco Chanel's taste in jewelry — is full of beading, rich jewel tones, and plenty of gilded pleasures. But the overt embellishment feels both opulent yet easy thanks to exquisite tailoring, louche shapes, and friendly flats.
