The former 'American Idol' judge is among the top 10 of the Sunday Times Rich List for earning 200 million pounds a year.
Simon Cowell is reportedly worth GBP200 million. The 51-year-old music mogul made GBP35 million last year from his various business interests including his SyCo music label and reality TV shows including "The X Factor" and "America's Got Talent", leading to his inclusion at number six on the annual Sunday Times Rich List of Britain's music millionaires, which is due to be published by the newspaper this weekend.

Simon, who owns homes in Beverly Hills, Barbados, Malaga and Dubai, has bypassed music legends including Elton John, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards on the list, but his assets are dwarfed by others including former Zomba Records owner Clive Calder who took the top spot with a GBP1.3 billion fortune and rival Simon Fuller, whose GBP375 million wealth earned him fifth place on the list.

Other musicians who made the list were The Beatles legend Paul McCartney, with a GBP495 million fortune, and Sting with GBP180 million.

Even though Simon, who is engaged to make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy, can claim to be one of Britain's richest men he admitted he still enjoys playing the National Lottery, but would never tell anyone if he scooped a million pound jackpot. He said, "I still buy lottery tickets. I still play. But I tick the box that says no publicity so no one would know."

However, despite his vast wealth, Simon has recently admitted he often gets in "dark moods for no reason" and has often considered going to see a psychiatrist to deal with "a number of issues" he has. He explained, "If I ever decided to go to a psychiatrist, it would be a long session."

I have always thought that I do have a number of issues that probably need dealing with, because I am quite odd in some ways. I get very dark moods for no reason. I just sit on my own for days."

Top 10 music millionaires:
  1.     Clive Calder - GBP1.3 billion
  2.     Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber - GBP680 million
  3.     Cameron Mackintosh - GBP675 million
  4.     Paul McCartney - GBP495 million
  5.     Simon Fuller - GBP375 million
  6.     Simon Cowell - GBP200 million
  7.     Elton John - GBP195 million
  8.     Mick Jagger - GBP190 million
  9.     Sting - GBP180 million
  10.     Keith Richards - GBP175 million

Cheryl Cole Confirmed for 'The X Factor (US)'
Cheryl Cole has been confirmed as a judge for 'The X Factor (US)', joining Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid on the judging panel.

Cheryl Cole has officially been confirmed as a judge for "The X Factor (US)".

Following months of speculation, it has now been announced the British singer will join Simon Cowell and record executive L.A. Reid on the judging panel of the show and she says she can't wait to get to work.

The 27-year-old beauty - who has been a judge on "The X Factor" since 2008, mentoring the winning act in her first two series - said, "I'm so excited to be taking part in the American version of 'The X Factor'."

"I absolutely love it here in the UK, and with the talent they have out in America, I'm sure we're going to find someone very special. I can't wait to get started."

"I just can't decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me."

"He's tried to beat me for three years in the UK, and hasn't even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this."

Simon - who, along with Cheryl, has quit the UK show - said, "I'm thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with. She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent."

Cheryl impressed executives at Fox with her performances on the UK version and they are sure she will be a hit with American audiences.

Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment and Fox, said, "Cheryl Cole has the whole 'X Factor' package. She's an incredibly talented artist and performer, as well as a style icon, and she has that special charisma that draws in fans around the world."

"Cheryl's charm and chemistry with Simon have been a key part of the overwhelming success of 'The X Factor' in the UK, and we can't wait to welcome her to the US on our air."

Although the fourth member of the judging panel is yet to be confirmed, it is widely predicted it will be Simon's former "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul.

Simon Cowell wants Cheryl Cole to waltz away from her dancer boyfriend Derek Hough - for the sake of her career.

The TV mogul told Derek, 25, the Girls Aloud singer needs to focus on her work and that she would be better off single, it has been claimed.

Simon, 50, made his feelings clear to Derek in a man-to-man chat over dinner at his London mansion recently.

A close friend of Derek's told the Mirror last night: "Derek said Simon was friendly enough, but just very firmly told him exactly what he thought.

"During the dinner Simon told Derek, 'It's nothing personal, I just don't think Cheryl should be spending so much time with you so soon after her marriage breakup'.

After the dinner Derek said to me: 'I just could not thaw him out. He is just so firm about where he stands'."

Simon became Cheryl's career mentor after he hand-picked the 27-year-old Geordie beauty to replace Sharon Osbourne as a judge on the fifth series of X Factor in 2008. He has also supported her following the break-up of her marriage to cheating soccer star Ashley Cole.

"Derek told me Cheryl respects Simon more than anyone else and she knows it is down to him that she is where she is today," claimed the friend.

"She thinks he is wise and emotionally intelligent, which is why Derek is so scared that Simon's opinion could hurt them in the long run.

"Simon told Derek he didn't want to be mean to him, but he just wanted to make sure he did everything in his power to safeguard her happiness and career." The dinner took place in London last month, after Cheryl was struck down with malaria after being bitten by a mosquito on a safari holiday with Derek.

When Derek was invited to dine at Simon's home, he thought it meant the X Factor boss was giving his blessing to his relationship with Cheryl.

But Derek's friend revealed: "Almost as soon as he arrived Simon made it very clear what his true feelings were.

"Instead of being happy for them, he told Derek he thinks right now Cheryl should be single. He noted that she would never have got malaria if she hadn't gone off to Tanzania with Derek.

"Simon thinks she needs a more stable routine. He also pointed out to Derek that Cheryl is reluctant to give up the name Cole - in his opinion this speaks volumes about where she is emotionally.

"He went on to warn Derek of encouraging Cheryl to jump into a rebound relationship and said Cheryl should be concentrating on her career because the next few choices she makes are critical. Simon knows Ashley held Cheryl back.

"What hurts Derek so much is that he knows he is It's nothing like Ashley and he's willing to do everything and more to support Cheryl."

Simon may have reservations about Derek's relationship with Cheryl, but the rest of their friends and family seem thrilled.

"Apart from Simon, everything else is golden right now for them," added the source.

"They are spending every minute of the day together at the moment and loving doing simple things like playing Rock Band and painting.

"They are just so happy. Cheryl has been getting to know his family over Skype and her mum Joan loves him. And unlike Simon, Amanda Holden thinks they are great with each other."

The couple recently had a night out with Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The source continued: "Amanda could see that Cheryl is calling the shots and is more content than ever before.

"Cheryl knows Simon is just looking out for her, but I think both she and Derek wish he would just realise they are very much in love and committed to building a life together."

nothing A spokesman for Simon Cowell told the Mirror last night: "Simon is very happy with anybody that will make Cheryl happy.

"Simon only cares about her health.

"He wouldn't dream of telling anyone what to do in their private relationships.

"He just wants her to be happy and healthy, and that's all that matters.

"There is absolutely no way Simon would be advising her and him about her private life. He was worried about her health and is very relieved she seems to be well again."

‘American Idol’ Responds After ‘X Factor’ Scandal

    Simon Cowell
Nytimes :    No sooner has Simon Cowell, below, departed from “American Idol” than the reality series has started to distance itself from that acid-tongued former judge, as his British series “The X Factor” finds itself embroiled in scandal.

Producers of Fox’s “American Idol” said in a statement reported by The Associated Press that they do not use pitch-correcting technology to tweak the singing voices of their show’s contestants.

The statement appeared to be a pre-emptive measure at a time when “The X Factor” is being assailed for misrepresenting the abilities of its contenders.

Producers of “The X Factor,” which Mr. Cowell created and plans to bring to American television next year, have acknowledged that they used the pitch-correcting program Auto-Tune to correct the voices of some singers on the show, though they said it was to compensate for the different microphones used during their performances.

In their statement, the “American Idol” producers wrote, “We have never, nor would we ever, use Auto-Tuning during the ‘American Idol’ competition.”
