Looking as beautiful as ever, Shakira was spotted arriving at Marco Polo Airport in Venice, Italy on Friday (May 13).

The “She Wolf” star donned a blue top and jeans paired with aviator sunglasses as the paparazzi snapped up shots of her arriving via chauffeured boat.

In recent news, the Colombian beauty will be singing for a major Bollywood production called “Azaan.”

Of the directors, a source told "Sachin and Salim-Suleiman have been trying their best to lure Shakira with the double bait of big bucks and Bollywood. Last year, the deal fell through. This year, however, things have gone differently. They approached Shakira to do a promotional video for the movie, and to their delight, she agreed."

Shakira Is the Harvard Foundation's 2011 Artist of the Year

Shakira is set to receive the Harvard Foundation's "most prestigious medal” this year, in recognition of her music and charity work. The award will be presented at the annual Cultural Rhythms festival, which is held at Sanders Theatre on the grounds of Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on February 26.

Acknowledging the world's most celebrated artists, scientists and leaders for their humanitarian efforts, the initiative is the college’s center for intercultural arts and sciences.

The foundation's director S. Allen Counter said Shakira had been chosen to receive the accolade this year because of her musical contributions to culture and her work helping children in impoverished areas such as Haiti.

He said: “The students and faculty of the Harvard Foundation are honored to present multi-platinum artist Shakira with the 2011 Artist of the Year award. Her contributions to music and distinguished history of creativity have been applauded by people throughout the world, and she is greatly admired worldwide for her humanitarian efforts through her Barefoot Foundation.”

The singer -- who has sold 50 million albums worldwide -- started the Barefoot Foundation when she was just 18 and has opened six schools through it.

The charity’s goal is to ensure that every child has the basic right to a quality education.
Shakira has also been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2003.

Shakira Named Harvard Foundation's Artist of the Year

She’s one of the hardest working musicians out there, and the Harvard Foundation is planning on recognizing Shakira for her efforts.

According to reports, the Harvard Foundation has named the “She Wolf” singer as the 2011 Artist of the Year.

Shakira will receive “the Foundation’s most prestigious medal” in recognition of her music and charity work at the annual Cultural Rhythms festival - which is held at Sander Theater at Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Duh duh duh, another ones bites the dust…

Looks like 2011 is going to continue last year’s trend of celebrity breakups. This time it’s Shakira and her boyfriend of 11 years, Antonio de la Rua, calling it quits.

The hip shaking singer released an official statement saying,

“During our almost 11 years together we have loved each other deeply, taken care of each other and stood by one another.

“They have been the most wonderful years of our lives, and thanks to that love and the respect that we share for one another we have been an exceptional couple and partners.

“We move forward as partners, developing projects together, working hand in hand and in close communication. Our friendship and understanding of one another is unwavering and indestructible.”

Weren’t they engaged? Or were those just rumors? Hopefully this is the right decision for both of them, and it sounds like Shakira and Antonio really are committed to staying friends. There were no kids involved, since they weren’t actually married, there’s no pre-nup or spousal support to contend with either and as far as I know, no rumors of cheating so the split should stay pretty uncomplicated.

Hopefully Shakira will stay busy with her music and charity work and try not to dwell too much on the past. Easier said than done.

Hard at work on her new music video, Shakira was spotted filming on location in Barcelona, Spain yesterday (August 19).

The “Hips Don’t Lie” babe looked to be enjoying herself, looking fabulous in a matching gold bikini top and form-fitting trousers.

And the music video is a sign of things to come, as Shakira will be releasing a new Spanish language album on November 2nd.
