Among the last to arrive to the night's star-studded event, Penelope Cruz was a hit on the red carpet of the Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night (May 2).

The Oscar-winning actress, who was both accompanied by and dressed in Oscar de la Renta, looked ravishing in a timeless black ruffled gown, diamond accessories and a black feathered clutch.

Penelope is currently on a huge worldwide promotional tour for her highly-anticipated film "Pirates of the Carribbean: On Stranger Tides," which is set to hit theaters later this month (May 20).


Later this week, Cruz will join co-star Johnny Depp for the film's world premiere in L.A., before she jets overseas to show off the fantasy-adventure at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.

These are the first photos of Penelope Cruz since she gave birth nearly one month ago exactly. By the way, we still don’t really know the name of Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem’s son, although one of Javier’s relatives claims that the boy is named Leo. Sweet. Anyway, doesn’t Penelope Cruz look great? She looks… healthy. Life she recently gave birth and she’s still got some baby weight but it’s all good. Those genes… I’m so glad they reproduced.

    Ay caramba! Just a month after giving birth to a baby boy, new mom Penelope Cruz stepped out in Santa Monica on Wednesday — and showed off a truly enviable post-baby figure.

    Visiting the offices of Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer (the man behind Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, in which Cruz stars), the stunning Oscar winner, 36, looked every bit the international movie star in shades, clingy striped top and tight blue jeans.

    (The slim star also flashed her huge engagement ring from husband Javier Bardem, a 3-carat sapphire ring worth a reported $30,000, according to sources.)

    After an ultra-private wedding last year, Cruz and Bardem, 41, welcomed their first child in L.A., reportedly named Leo Encinas.

    Although the Spanish superstar couple have remained fairly mum about their new family, Bardem couldn’t help but gush while accepting a Goya Award in his native Spain Feb. 13.

    “I dedicate [this award] to my wife and son for awakening my heart and smile every day,” the Biutiful actor (who’s also up for an Oscar this Sunday) said.

Good for them. I know some people claim that Penelope Cruz and Javier are both major douches, but I prefer to think of them as just rather press-reticent. Hopefully. In any case, I’m happy for them.

Penelope Cruz has confirmed speculation that she is expecting her first child.

The Vicky Cristina Barcelona star sparked rumours that she is pregnant when she was photographed sporting a fuller figure on the set of Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 in Puerto Rico.

A representative for the actress has now confirmed to The AP that she is four-and-a-half-months pregnant. The spokesperson added that Cruz is currently travelling to London to finish filming the Disney sequel.

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem did a great job of keeping their baby news under the radar. But, the secret is out as Cruz and Bardem have admitted they are going to be parents.

While there isn't much gab to blab concerning the couple's happy news, we can at least report a rep for Penelope Cruz confirmed rumors that the Oscar winner is expecting a baby.

The source confirmed to E! News that the Oscar winner is four-and-a-half months pregnant.

Gossip patrol went to town after pictures of Penelope Cruz wearing a baby bump-friendly top started to surface. Was she, or wasn't she? Apparently she was. The telling pictures were snapped in Puerto Rico on the set of her upcoming movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem walked down the aisle in July during a top-secret wedding that had many fooled. Cruz and Bardem pulled off the nuptials in the beautiful Bahamas.

Love isn't the only thing the couple share. They co-starred in the comedy Vicky Cristina Barcelona, for which Bardem's better half won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2009.

Javier Bardem's sister, Monica, all but foreshadowed the duo's first child.

"They have shown the world they are in love," Monica told Hola! "And it would be only normal and natural to have children."
